José Luis Arbulú Rodriguez
Biography
Born in the province of Callao in Peru, studied at the Specialty Drawing and Painting at the National School of Fine Arts of Peru from 1976 to 1983. Subsequently, he studied a course of Advanced Painting in Saint Martin's School of Art in London 1985 and made studies of Traditional Chinese Painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts Beijing1987-1989. Finally performed complementary studies in art at the National University of San Marcos. Among his awards and honors include: First Prize for Painting in Lima's Festivals (1982); First Bata International Painting Award, Lima (1983); Grand Prix Beijing International Ink and Wash Painting Exhibition 88 - Beijing RP China (1988); Second Prize International Competition of Painting and Chinese Calligraphy, Shandong Peony Cup R. P. China (1989); Honorable Mention - Regional Hall of Lima - Lima First National Biennial (1998). Arbulú has made 13 solo exhibitions, among which are: Stare, Zu Gallery (Miami, 2010), Stories and Fragments, ARTCO Art Gallery (Lima, 2008); Interior Night, Sol Art Gallery (Miami, 2003); Within the game, Luis Sala Miroquesada Garland Cultural Center of the Municipality of Miraflores (1999); Seventh Return, Sala Luis Miroquesada Garland. Cultural Center of the Municipality of Miraflores (Lima, 1997); Paintings, Embassy of Argentina. Beijing R. P. China (1990). He has also participated in numerous two-person and group exhibitions in Peru, China, Italy, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, France, Uruguay, Venezuela and England. He is currently professor of painting at the School of Visual Arts Corriente Alterna Lima-Peru.
